Body Count – “Body Count’s in the House” (1992)
When Body Count dropped their self-titled debut in 1992, the opening track “Body Count’s in the House” kicked down the door with a warning shot — loud, raw, and unapologetically in-your-face.
Led by Ice-T, a rapper-turned-metal-frontman, Body Count fused thrash metal with hardcore punk and streetwise attitude. This intro track set the tone for what was to come: a full-on assault on racism, police brutality, and social hypocrisy — all with headbanging riffs and blistering energy.
With Ernie C’s guitar wails and Ice-T’s menacing delivery, “Body Count’s in the House” wasn’t just a song — it was a mission statement.
“Body Count’s in the house, watch your back!”
It announced a new kind of rage — not from the suburbs, but straight from South Central, Los Angeles.
