A Tribute in True Rock Fashion

At Black Sabbath’s monumental “Back to the Beginning” farewell show on Saturday, July 5, music and memory collided in one of the most heartfelt tributes of the night.

Guitar legend Nuno Bettencourt took the stage wearing none other than Diogo Jota’s iconic No. 20 Liverpool shirt — a silent, powerful nod to the late footballer that spoke louder than any words ever could.

Backed by the high-voltage force of Supergroup A, the stage turned into a living tribute, not just to Sabbath, but to a life lost too soon. The lineup was nothing short of electric:

Lzzy Hale
David Draiman (Disturbed)
Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe)
Yungblud
Scott Ian (Anthrax), Jake E Lee (ex-Ozzy)David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), Frank Bello (Anthrax)
Mike Bordin (Faith No More)
II (Sleep Token)
Adam Wakeman

Together, they ripped through a heavy, soulful set that paid homage to Sabbath’s legacy — and ended with something deeply personal.

To close the night, Yungblud stepped forward to dedicate the band’s final number — a haunting, stripped-down rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” — to the memory of Diogo Jota. As the first notes rang out, the mood shifted from raw power to quiet reverence, blanketing the crowd in shared emotion.

From the pitch to the pit, the message was clear:
Legends never die.
